I've been thinking about this for a few weeks and would like some input and/or OPINIONS on this. Just about everyone eliminates the HICAS system for various reasons. For me personally I would like to have it counter-steer at any speed. With the option to electronically eliminate it also. I have the wiring diagram for the entire car and it really got me thinking about installing resistors in place of the speed sensors going to the HICAS control unit. The resistors could be controlled by an on/off switch in turn eliminating the HICAS at the push of a button. Now all of this is contingent on how the speed sensors send the signal to the control unit. IF it is resistance then I don't see why this would be a problem. The HICAS operates at certain speeds. So wouldn't I need to identify the wires from the sensor, connect an OHM meter, then just drive and read the resistance at certain speeds. Whatever the resistance is at, let's say 30mph, wouldn't I just install a resistor in place of the speed sensor input on the control unit? Some of you might be thinking "It counter steers at low speeds and steers in unison at higher speeds". Ok well couldn't I install the resistors in line to make the unit think the car is already at the 30mph when it's sitting still? The Honda Prelude rear steering system worked while the car was parked. It would counter steer untill the front tires reached a certain angle then the rear tires switched to steer in unison. If it all works with resistance, in theory, I could rewire the system to do this also and completely bypass the speed sensors. Don't give me this BS that "If Nissan didn't design it that way, then you shouldn't mess with it". Because if Nissan didn't design the VG30 or the 300zx to have 500HP then you shouldn't mess with it either. Any input would be appreciated.
